Frank Ortman, a former resident of Elkport, died at his home in Lodomillo township, Saturday. Mr. Ortman was 49 years of age. The deceased leaves a wife and four children. Funeral took place Tuesday from the Littleport Lutheran church, Rev. Buesing officiating. Burial was made in Mt. Harmony cemetery.

Frank Henry Ortman was born near Elkport, Clayton county, Iowa, November 27, 1888. He was baptized in infancy and receiving two years of Bible school training prior to participation of Holy Communion. On April 05, 1903 in a class of fourteen he made a public confession of his faith in the true God Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
September 10, 1913, he entered into holy matrimony with Miss Maggie Noggle at Elkader. To a prior union, one child, Velma, was born, and to this union three children: Opal, Mildred and Eugene. The departed was a life-long resident of Clayton county, actively engaged in tilling the soil in the communities around Elkport, Littleport and Strawberry Point.
A year preceding last November he became seriously ill with Bright's disease to which he succumbed April 23, 1938 at 8:50 a.m. He reached the age of 49 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Besides his beloved wife and four children he leaves to mourn six grandchildren, Gwenneth and Carl Stewart, Phylliss and Patricia, Dale and Gale Resor; three brothers: Fred, Edward and Walter of Charles City; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Selchow of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Henry Beerman of Guttenberg and Mrs. Albert Werner of Ackley.
On Tuesday, April 26th, he received a Christian burial. Services were conducted in Hope American Lutheran church, Littleport. Rev. H. L. Buesing, the officiating pastor based his sermonic remarks upon St. Paul's words, "I recon that the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:8. The remains of the deceased were laid to rest in peaceful Mt. Harmony cemetery near Elkport.
