Clara Martilda Stearns was born May 03, 1874, in Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa, on the home farm east of St. Olaf, the daughter of Knute and Martha Stearns. At an early age she moved to St. Paul, Minn., where she was employed.
She died March 23, at 3:15 a.m., at the Anchor hospital, St. Paul, Minn., following a month's illness of high blood pressure and complications.
Miss Stearns is survived by one brother, Knute Stears, of St. Olaf, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Sorom of Grand Meadow, Minn., and Mrs. Joseph Sorben of Whittier, Calif., and seven nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends in St. Paul. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
The remains were viewed by her friends at a St. Paul chapel home, Thursday, March 24, and then taken to St. Olaf, Iowa, to the Norway church for services and burial, on March 25th, with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating.
Pallbearers were Fred Orvis, William Carney, Andrew Wold, Henry Embretson, Ole Embretson, and Ludwig Embretson.
