GARNAVILLO: Mrs. Wilhelmine Steemann was born at Grebs Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, June 02, 1863. Her parents were Henry Haak and his wife Elizabeth Mundt, who came to America in 1877 and settled at Guttenberg.

On January 22, 1883, the deceased was united in marriage with Mattias Steemann. During the first year of their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Steemann lived on a farm at Littleport; the following two years they lived at Garber; for two additional years they lived south-west of Garnavillo; then, for four years, east of Garnavillo, after which they returned to the farm they had just previously occupied. Mr. Steemann died here in 1926, and the deceased also lived here until the time of her death, March 18, aged 74 years, nine months and sixteen days. This place has been occupied by a daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Henry for a number of years.

Survivors are: two sons, John, Waterloo, and Henry, West Union; three daughters: Miss Anna and Mrs. Amanda Henry, Garnavillo and Mrs. Alice Sommers, Elkader; one brother, Henry, Garber, eight grandchildren, many more distant relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, Garnavillo, Monday afternoon, March 21, conducted by the Rev. M. J. Harder, pastor. Interment was made at the Garnavillo cemetery..

Casket bearers were Hubert Zapf, Karl Hildebrand, Nevalle Flagel, Christie Bauer, August Kraus and Herman Mueller.
