Mrs. James E. Hansel was born in Clayton county, Iowa, June 21, 1873, and passed away at her home at Osterdock, Sunday, March 06th, without any warning, due to a heart attack, having attained the age of 64 years, 8 months and 13 days.
Lenora was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Smith. On Nov. 07, 1896, she was united in marriage to James E. Hansel, who died March 04, 1914. To this union were born five sons, Louis, Walter and Howard, (of) Osterdock, John of Rockford, Ill., and William who preceded his mother in death on Sept. 17, 1920; three daughters, Blanche Stewart of Osterdock, and Grace and Gladys, who passed away during infancy.
The deceased was a kind and loving friend and neighbor, always willing to help others. She became a member of the Rebekah lodge, Jan. 01, 1909, of which she had been a faithful member ever after.
Mrs. Hansel was baptized when she was a little girl, and became a member of the United Brethren church, of which she remained a member until her death.
Besides the aforementioned children, she leaves to mourn her passing, one brother, Robert Smith, of Fayette, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Marvin Walters, Mrs. Frank Harbaugh and Mrs. Nick Moser, all of Colesburg. Mrs. Moser was unable to attend the funeral, being in Florida at present. Six grandchildren, Roy, Doris and Wanda Stewart, and Junior, Lavonne and Frank Hansel, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
