Clayton County Register, 16 Feb. 1938.

MONONA: Funeral service for John Schmeiser, aged 66, prominent farmer, was held Saturday afternoon from the Pilgrim Evangelical church, the Rev. Harvey Raduege officiating, and burial was made in the council Hill cemetery beside his first wife. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Dora Spli Schmeiser. He has been in poor health for several years and was taken to the Community hospital at Postville the day before his death.
