Clayton County Register, 05 Jan. 1938.
Tom Wright, 31, of West Union, an employee of the Central States Power and Light Corp., was electrocuted shortly after ten o'clock this forenoon at the local sub-station where he and a fellow employee were taking measurements for future improvements.
Tom was working on a ladder, about six feet from the floor of the sub-station when his right shoulder came in contact with the high-voltage wire of a lightning arrester. The shock knocked him from the ladder to the icy floor of the station and it is believed that he fell on his head.
Fellow employees at the station, as well as others familiar with artificial respiration worked on him until all hope for reviving him were abandoned.
Tom has been connected with this company for quite a number of years doing line work, etc. He is survived by his widow, the former Mary Dinan of this place, two children - a son Tom, seven years of age and a daughter, Dorothy, four years old, as well as three sisters - Mrs. Dewey Tatro, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. C. F. Glasek, Rollins, Wyoming, and Virginia Wright of West Union.
