Loronzo F. Marlett, 78, died Thursday at his farm near National. He had not been in good health for some time and suffered a severe heart attack several days before his death.

Loronzo F. Marlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Marlett, was born March 15, 1870 near Edgewood, Iowa. When he was but six months old his parents moved to a farm directly east of National. Here he spent his entire life, first helping his parents, and later operating the farm himself.

He was married to Irene Mitchell on December 20, 1891. Four children were born on the farm and cared for his parents in their old age.

Mr. and Mrs. Marlett enjoyed their life on their farm and seldom went away from home. Mrs. Marlett died two months ago.

The four children surviving are two sons, Royal of Pinedale, Calif., and Freeman of National, and two daughters, Mrs. Ameia Copus of Madera, Calif., and Mrs. Lucy Clinton of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Funeral service were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Dickman Funeral Chapel in Garnavillo with the Rev. Alexander Meyer officiating. Interment was at the National cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernie Weller, Robert Demo, Walter Wright, Burton right and Harold Schutte, all of National community.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clinton, Lorene, Loren, Josephine, Joseph and Earlene; Mrs. Chester Hall of Ponca City, Okla.; Royal Marlett of Pinedale, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Arvig of Story City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leonard of Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. John Marlett of Rockford, Ill.; and Mr. and Mrs. John Nagle of Elkader.
