MCGREGOR: Funeral services (were) held Saturday morning for A. A. Horning, 75, at the Methodist church. The services were in charge of Rev. Glen McMichael, pastor of the McGregor church and Rev. S. F. Kenderdine a former pastor. Music was furnished by a male quartet and a group of older choir members who had sung in the choir with Mr. Horning. Pall bearers were business associates. Mr. Horning had been in business in McGregor for 43 years consecutively, always as a photographer, and later going into the drygoods business also. He was born in Albert Lea, Minn., and as a young man went to Dakota to teach school. In that state he married Annie Kennahan. A few years after their marriage they came to McGregor in 1894. To this union were born six children, Hazel, Mrs. George Platt of Oelwein; Marguerite, (Mrs. ??) Dr. M. H. Taylor of Los Angeles, Cal., Lloyd of McGregor; Aris, Mrs. Betty White of Des Moines; Ralph of Traverse City, Mich., and one son who died in infancy. He is survived by his widow and five children. Burial was made in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
