Elkport: John Thiese, a prominent farmer of Volga township, died Wednesday. The funeral took place Friday from the Elkport Lutheran church. Rev. Buesing officiated. Burial was in Elkport cemetery.

ELKPORT: John Thiese was born on June 25, 1874, near Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa, where he spent his boyhood and his young manhood years. He was confirmed March 25, 1882. On Jan. 07, 1914, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Gerloff of Elkport. This happy union was blessed with one child, Enelda, Mrs. Harold Horstman of Garber.
On June 12, 1936, the deceased was stricken with a severe heart attack, from which he never fully recovered. Then on Wednesday, July 14, at the hour of noon, he died. He reached the comparatively high age of 63 years and 19 days. Friday, July 16, at 2:00 P.M., he received a Christian burial from Immanuel Lutheran church, Elkport, Rev. H. L. Buesing officiating.
He leaves to mourn his pleasant departure, his wife and daughter, one brother, Herman Thiese, of Elkader, other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.
