Mrs. Matt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Meyer, was born in Volga township on October 27, 1881, and died at Dubuque on July 10, at the age of 56 years, eight months and 13 days. Mrs. Matt lived in this community all her life. A life that was beautiful in its simplicity came to a close when Death took from this happy home a tender, loving wife and mother. Mrs. Matt possessed a charming personality and her friendly greeting was extended to both young and old. Her memory will long live with us. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family who are so grief stricken. She was a friend in need (deed ??) and always willing to help others when trouble or sorrow overtook them. The many spiritual and floral bouquets gave silent tribute to the high regard in which she was held in this community.
