Mach, Constantine Friederich "Fred" 1873 - 1937

Constantine Friederich Mach was born at Friederichsfeld, Germany, on December 28, 1873, and therefore was past 63 years old. He was married in Germany to Miss Emma Behrens, who preceded him in death in March, 1936. On June 04, 1903, the couple came to America. Previous to coming to Guttenberg a number of years ago, the couple resided in various parts of Clayton county. He was a laborer and is survived by a number of relatives. Mach's body was returned to Guttenberg Saturday evening and taken to the Beerman undertaking parlors. Funeral services wee conducted by the Rev. C. A. Jacobi at the City cemetery here Monday afternoon.

(Note: Extracted from an article (pg 1, same paper & date) detailing the murder of Mrs. Katherine Connolly by "Fred" Mach, and his immediate attempted suicide, which resulted in his death the next day. She died immediately in Guttenberg Iowa, he died the next day in a Dubuque, Iowa, hospital. Her burial is assumed to be in Dubuque, where she was from, his burial is in the City cemetery at Guttenberg. See also the obituary of his wife on this site.)
