OSTERDOCK: Fred Moser, well known Mallory Twp. farmer, died last week Monday in his home after a lingering illness. He was 79 years of age. Death followed an illness which held him since last July.
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon in the Bethel church, Mallory Twp. Burial was made in the Bethel cemetery. Rev. E. E. Clements of Colesberg officiated.
Mr. Moser was born Oct. 11, 1857, in Switzerland. He lived in his native land until he was nine years of age, when he came to the United States with his parents, Fred and Anna Weibel Moser. In 1881 the family settled in Clayton County, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was married in 1881 to Miss Sarah Dings, who died in 1926.
Mr. Moser is survived by six sons, Dolph of Deadwood, S.D., Ed. and Warren of Turkey River, Gus of Greeley, Elmer of Waterloo and Walter of Osterdock, four daughters, Mrs. Chet. Tomkins of Osterdock, Mrs. J. Tomkins of Colesburg, Mrs. William Kohler of Dubuque, Mrs. Theodore Volquardt of Galena, Ill., three brothers, Robert and Alex Moser of Osterdock, and John of Independence, Missouri, one sister, Mrs. Mary Friedlien of Junction City, Wis., 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
