William Brinkhous died March 06 at 12:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louise McTaggart, Elkader.

Mr. Brinkhous was born in Baltimore, Md., July 18, 1853. He came to Mederville, Iowa in his very early youth with his parents. On Nov. 21, 1880, he was united in marriage to Ida Voss and to this union one child was born, Mrs. M. H. McTaggart. In 1934 Mr. and Mrs. William Brinkhous celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

William Brinkhous was depot agent of Mederville for 28 years for the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad. He was postmaster of Mederville for twenty years. Mr. Brinkhous owned and operated a general store at Mederville more than sixty years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida Brinkhous, his daughter, Mrs. M. H. McTaggart; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Frericks, Pontiac, Mich.; three brothers, Ed. of Gothenburg, Neb., Charles of Rushmore, Minn., and Anton of Doon, Iowa; and six grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held from the M. H. McTaggart residence to the new Lutheran church. The Rev. E. L. Stuempfig, pastor of the church, officiated throughout the services. Burial was made in the Mederville cemetery.

Casket bearers were George Hubbard, Wm. Bente, Chas. Hakert, Harry Kramer, Mike Leonard and John Leonard.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Lillie Frericks, Pontiac, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Brinkhous, Albert Brinkhous and Mrs. Lara Riche of Doon, Iowa; Henry and George Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. A. Teede, Mr. and Mrs. John Olinger, Geo. Olinger, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Pugh, all of Strawberry Point, Iowa.
