David Olmsted died at Fairfax, Vt., on the 2d, aged 38 years. For one so young Mr. O. filled many public stations in the West.

His name is identified with Minnesota as an Indian trader, Member of the Territorial Legislature, President of the Council, Editor of the leading Democratic paper of the State, first Mayor of the city of St. Paul, &c.

Several of the relatives of this eminent western man are wealthy and respected citizens of the vicinity of Monona, Iowa.
