DIED - At the American Hotel, in McGregor, of consumption, on the morning of the 30th ult. Oscar E. Nicholson, formerly of Wilkes Barre, Penn., aged 22 years.
The deceased, accompanied by his uncle, Lyman R. Nicholson, arrived in McGregor Oct. 17th. They had intended to spend the winter in St. Paul, thinking that the health of the deceased would improve under the bracing atmosphere of that region. But Death, the leveller of all, reached forth its icy fingers and claimed him as his own.
During the short time the deceased was among us, he won many friends by his dignified and honorable deportment. He was a young man of more than ordinary intelligence, and had he not too early fallen a victim to that the most subtle of all diseases, a bright future awaited him.
He died as composedly as if he had fallen into a gentle sleep. It is gratifying to his many friends to know the fact that during his stay with us, and more particularly in his last moments, he had every comfort that he desired, and that his relative and kind friends could render.
W.H. Harding and his excellent Lady, of the American House, were active in making comfortable the dying pillow of this young man. We deeply sympathize with his affectionate mother and relatives.
His body will be taken by his relative to his former place of residence, for interment.
