Clayton County Register, 02 Dec. 1936.
ELKPORT: Dorothy Boehm, ten-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Boehm of Manchester, was killed, and another child, a sister of Dorothy, received a badly bruised leg when the truck of Fred Amsden backed down an incline at the John Noggles farm near here Saturday morning.
Fred Amsden, driver and owner of the truck, was hauling a load of hogs to market for Mr. Noggles. After loading the truck, Amsden drove up an incline from the hog house to the highway, stopped his truck and got out to get a drink at the well.
A strong wind caused the truck to start backing down the incline. It crashed through a gate and crushed Dorothy, who was playing on a patch of ice with her sister, Jean. Dorothy died thirty minutes after the accident.
Funeral services were held Monday and burial was made in Mt. Harmony cemetery. The parents have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
