Clayton County Register, 07 Oct. 1936.

LITTLEPORT: Louie Ortman of Cedar Rapids died Thursday evening, Oct. 01st. He was 54 years of age. He was well known in this vicinity, having made his former home here. Services were held at Elkader and burial was made in the Union cemetery at Littleport. (At this point in the obit there was a long list of funeral attendees not identified as relatives, and not transcribed.)

Mr. Ortman leaves to grieve his passing his many friends and the following relatives: his wife and daughter, Mrs. Clara Ortman and Arleen, of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. Sophia Ortman, of Elkader; his sisters, Mrs. E. L. Gifford of Dubuque, Mrs. John Bock of Elkader, Mrs. Chas. Lange of Mederville, Mrs. Edna Burns of Hopkinton; his brothers, Wm. Ortman, Carl Ortman and Geo. Ortman, all of Littleport.
