Funeral services for Ernest R. Schroeder of Dundee were held at the Lutheran church Friday afternoon, and interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery. The deceased was born south of Edgewood, June 06, 1872. He came to Manchester and became an apprentice in the jewelry store of Boynton and McEwen. He later went to Grinnell and to Cedar Rapids, where he practiced his trade. He returned to Dundee in 1904 and entered into partnership with his brother, A. R. Schroeder, in a general store. The partnership continued until 1926, after which Mr. Schroeder operated a jewelry store in Dundee until 1931. He then became associated with his son Earl in a mercantile business. In 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Knight of Strawberry Point. Surviving are his wife and son Earl, also two brothers, Arthur R. Schroeder of Dundee, and Ferdinand J. Schroeder of Waterloo.
