Clayton County Register, 05 Aug. 1936. Garnavillo column.
Henry Seidel died at his home here Friday, following a weeks' illness that confined him to his bed. Henry had been in poor health for a number of years, but was able most of the time to pursue his work as hauler for the Garnavillo Creamery, even to within a week of his death.
Henry William Seidel, son of John Seidel and his wife, Minnie Poltow, was born in Garnavillo township Nov. 30, 1886. He was one of eight children born to this pair.
He lived on the home farm on Buck Creek until shortly after the death of his father, which he inherited and later disposed of, taking up his residence in Guttenberg for three years. In 1922 he came to Garnavillo and established his home with his brother Fred. With the exception of one year he had lived here since that time. He received the contract for hauling cream on one of the routes for the local creamery, and held the position for 13 years.
He died Friday morning, July 24, aged 50 years, one month and 24 days.
He leaves two sisters: Mrs. Martha Yost, Bagley, Wis., and Mrs. Frieda Tackman, Guttenberg, and two brothers: Fred, Garnavillo, and Herman, Guttenberg.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. M. J. Harder at St. Paul's July 26, and interment was made at the old Garnavillo cemetery.
