GUTTENBERG: Gustave Seemann, one of this community's highly regarded citizens, passed away at his home here Thursday evening at 10:30, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 21 days, following an illness of a long duration.
Mr. Seemann was born on a farm in Clayton county, Iowa, on August 02, 1862, and lived in this county all is life, with the exception of a few years, when he lived in Delaware county. Fifty years ago he was married at Elkport to Miss Bertha Kobernus, who preceded him in death on July 07, 1935. For many years Mr. Seemann was successfully engaged in farming in Jefferson township. Nineteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Seemann came to Guttenberg to make their home.
His death is deeply mourned by one daughter, Mrs. Delbert Morley of Guttenberg; two sons, Sam Seemann of Elkader, and Burt Seeman of Jefferson township; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Fred Groth of Guttenberg; five half-sisters, Mrs. Anna Noack of Osterdock, Mrs. Millie Simmons of Colesburg, Mrs. Augusta White of Edgewood, Mrs. Ella Barnhart of Colesburg, and Mrs. Emma Patrick of Elkader; one half-brother, Fred Seeman, of Osterdock.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church in Guttenberg on Sunday afternoon, with interment in the city cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
