STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services of G. D. Marsh occurred Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church, conducted by Rev. Carrie V. Lucas. The pallbearers were: W. U. Smith, J. W. Hesner, M. G. Arnold, John Tracy, Otto Baumgartner and John Frederick. Interment was made in the ___________ cemetery.
George D. Marsh, son of Joseph and Mary Marsh, was born at Arlington Nov. 20, 1857, and died at Ames July 10, 1936. His father was born in England and his mother in Scotland. With the exception of a few years, Mr. Marsh lived nearly his entire life in Clayton county. He followed the painting and interior decorating trade for many years, and was an honest and faithful workman. He decorated the Congregational church a number of years ago as a free-will gift. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Henry J. Marsh of California, Joseph N. Marsh of Oregon, Mrs. F. Boland and Mrs. A. J. Bennett, both of Oelwein; also 13 grandchildren and two brothers and one sister, Lawrence Marsh of Cedar Rapids, Clarence Marsh of California and Mrs. Jennie Hummel of Canada.
