Funeral services for Henry M. Kingsley occurred Saturday afternoon at the Congregational church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Carrie V. Lucas, assisted by the Methodist pastor, Rev. James P. Gable. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Henry M. Kingsley was born at Courtland, New York, on July 14, 1855, and passed away in the hospital at Des Moines last Thursday. When seven years old he came with his parents to Iowa and settled near Waverly. For the past few years he and Mrs. Kingsley have made their home at Strawberry Point with Mrs. Kingsley's sister, Miss Kate Newberry. He was united in marriage at Strawberry Point to Mary E. Newberry on Feb. 19, 1880. A greater part of his life was spent in the creamery and contracting business. He established the first creamery in Oelwein. Surviving are the widow, one son, Paul N. Kingsley, of Des Moines; two brothers and one sister: Harve Kingsley of Topeka, Kansas; Bert Kingsley of Hammerston, Ore.; and Mrs. Ella Apfel of Long Beach, Calif., Also eight grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy.
