Clayton County Register, 15 Apr. 1936. Strawberry Point column.

Funeral services for Frank Nace were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. James P. Grable. The pallbearers were: Chas. Blanchard, J. R. King, C. C. Huntley, Fred E. Tracy, L. L. Hines and A. J. Stamp. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Joseph Frank Nace, youngest son of Joseph and Susanna Nace, was born on a farm southwest of Strawberry Point, Aug. 06, 1854. On Feb. 23, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Smart of Scales Mound, Ill., at the home of the bride's parents. They came to Iowa and farmed on the Peter Blake farm, now the M. G. Arnold farm, two miles northwest of Strawberry Point, for two years. Then they moved to Scales Mound and remained for two years, after which they returned to Iowa, engaging in farming in Clayton and Delaware counties. Twenty-five years ago they gave up farming and moved to town. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen and a charter member of the Royal Neighbors, the latter attending in a body. About twelve years ago Mr. Nace suffered a stroke, from which he partially recovered, but later at different times again suffered strokes. For the past two years he has been almost entirely helpless, although able to be up all the time until the last two weeks, when he was confined to his bed. Mr. and Mrs. Nace celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a large group of relatives and friends, and since that time the two sons, with their wives and children and grandchildren, have enjoyed a family dinner on Feb. 23. Surviving besides the widow are the two sons, Roy N. Nace and Winnie F. Nace, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Arthur (Rita) Wilkens and Mrs. Howard (Alberta) Scofield; also two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Mae and Adelaine Maxine Wilkens, all of Strawberry Point, and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Ely, of Bozeman, Mont., besides a large circle of friends.
