GUTTENBERG: Fred Brase, life-long resident of this community, passed away at his farm home in Jefferson township on Friday morning, at 6:30 o'clock, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 26 days, following a several weeks' illness. Deceased was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, on January 28, 1866. His entire life was spent on a farm. He was married to Miss Minnie Ahrend of Garnavillo. His death is deeply mourned by his wife; one brother, William Brase, of Jefferson township; one sister, Mrs. Louise Amsden, of near Colesburg; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. A. Jacobi at the Brase home Monday afternoon, with interment in the Hyde cemetery in Jefferson township. The funeral was largely attended.
