ST. OLAF: Gina Hulverson Thompson was born Aug. 03, 1855, in Lille Hammer, Norway, and died Jan. 07, 1936, at her home in St. Olaf. She was baptized in Norway and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church. With her parents, she came to America in 1866 and settled in Clayton County. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Gunder Thompson, and this union was blessed with three children. Her entire life was spent in Clayton county with the exception of ten years which they spent at Randall, Kansas. Her husband preceded her in death July 09, 1915. She leaves to mourn her departure , three sons, Albert, of Wyndemere, N.D., Oscar of St. Olaf, and Herbert of Farmersburg; two granddaughters, Gertrude and Vivian Thompson, of Wyndemere, N.D.; four sisters, Mrs. Belle Halverson of Santa Ana, Calif., Mrs. Clara Larson of Miller, Mrs. A. C. Meyer of Castalia and Miss Tena Halverson of St. Olaf; and one brother, _. O. Halverson, of St. Olaf. Funeral services were held Friday at two o'clock at the Norway church, Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. She was laid to rest in the Norway cemetery. The pallbearers were: Fred Orvis, Harry Barnum, Wm. Fuhrman, K. K. Stearns, Otto Severson and T. K. Thompson.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Schultz and Mrs. A. C. Meyer, all of Castalia; Mrs. Clara Larson and Clarence Hulverson, both of Miller; Mrs. Hoddenfield of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Osnes of Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Schoonmaker of Cresco, and Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Meyer of Clermont.
