St. Olaf: Anton L. Peterson was born in Christiania, Norway, in 1848, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Martin Larson, on Monday afternoon, Dec. 23rd, at the age of 87 years, six months and ten days. With his parents he came to America at the age of seven years. After a seven weeks' voyage in a sail boat, they landed at Quebec. Two weeks more of travel by canal boats, tugboats, and railroad brought them to Milwaukee, where they stayed for a few months and then moved to Madison, Wis., and from there went by team to Prairie du Chien, Wis., where they lived for two years.

October, 1857, they came to Iowa and settled near St. Olaf, where he had lived ever since. On July 23, 1867, he was united in marriage with Bertha Nelson, who passed away March 12, 1923. This union was blessed with ten children: Peter N. of Wagner township, Martin of Ruso, N.D., Mrs. Carolina Martie, Wagner township, Adolph, who died in infancy, Mrs. Albertine Bergan, Roseglen, N.D., Mrs. Lovena Larson, of Monona, Gust, of Phelps, Wis., Mrs. Sophia Quam, who died Oct. 20, 1909, Mrs. Johanne Juvik, Wagner township, and Oliver of St. Olaf. He is survived by 40 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Schultz funeral home at Monona, Friday, at one o'clock, by the Rev. H. W. Siefkes, and at the Norway church at 2 o'clock, , with Rev. S. J. Strandjord in charge. Burial was made in the Norway cemetery.
