Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Nov. 1912. Volga column.

Euphamia Probert, the third daughter of the late James and Euphamia Probert, was born in Gertness, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Oct. 19, 1848, and died in Volga, Iowa, Nov. 20th, 1912, aged 64 years 1 month and 1 day.

When she was nearly two years of age her parents removed from the homeland and settled in Pennsylvania, in the village of Pinecreek, from which place they later moved to Pittsburg, where they lived until 1856, when they again removed, coming west and settling in Highland township, Iowa.

In 1874 Euphamia, now a young woman, went to Elgin, Iowa, where she engaged in the business of Millinery, and for eleven years followed this vocation in the said city, but in 1885 she was forced to leave her new home and business and come to Volga, in order to care for her aged mother and father, who by this time were becoming feeble and needed such care as the hands and heart of a dutiful daughter could render. For several years she gave her life, not only to care for the parents, but she also cared for an invalid sister, giving them such care and service as is born only of love and devotion, constantly ministering to their needs until the voice of the Master summoned them to dwell with Him.

In 1867 Phamie was received into full membership in the United Presbyterian church, under the Pastorate of the Rev. Daniel Todd, but while dwelling in Elgin she identified herself with the United Brethern church of that city, there being no church of her own denomination there. When she took up her residence in Volga however, she again found her place in the Presbyterian church, where she labored continuously until the Great Rewarder of the faithful called her home Wednesday evening.

Phamie has always been of a very cheerful disposition and a thorough Christian both in word and deed.

She leaves to mourn her loss three brothers, William and John N., of Volga, and George, of Sergant, Nebraska, and one sister, Mrs. Janette Hall, of Sylvan, Wisconsin, besides numerous other relatives and a host of staunch friends, who shall sorely miss her cheery smile and kindly word.

Sleep on, beloved, sleep and take thy rest,
Lay down thy head upon the Saviour's breast,
We loved thee well but Jesus loved thee best,
Good night, Good night, Good night !
