Elkader Register, Thur., 14 Nov. 1912.

The sympathy of this community went out to the family of E. Bergemeyer, who were called upon to part with their youngest son Bernhard. who had been ill for the past few months, death releasing him from his sufferings Wednesday morning, November 06th, at the age of 19 years.

Bernhard J. Bergemeyer was born in Clayton County July 17, 1893, he was confirmed November 22, 1908, in the Haug Lutheran church near McGregor. Of late years the family have resided in McGregor, where he attended the public school and later was employed at the Round House at North McGregor. He was a boy of manly character and good habits. "His hope of salvation was built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness." He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bergemeyer, two brothers, Embret, of Elkader; Joe, of this city; and one sister, Miss Mary, at home.

The funeral services were held from the home at half past one o'clock last Saturday to the Methodist church, where Rev. Lusk conducted the service assisted by Rev. A. Cutler, pastor of the Congregational church and Rev. Lee, of Madison, and thence to the Haug Lutheran church, where at four o'clock Rev. Lee held funeral services. The interment was made in the cemetery of that church, the pall bearers were boy friends of the deceased: William Howe, Arthur Erickson, Elmer Langlie, La Vant Leibrand, Edwin Hultgren and John Sweeney. He leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his loss as was attested by the large gathering at the funeral. - McGregor News.
