Wilhelmina Brandt, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Maurer, was born on Jan. 23, 1855, near Bremen, Ohio, and at the age of five years the family moved to Garnavillo, Iowa. At Elkader on November 06th, 1873, she was united in marriage to Euguene T. Barnes, who died about six years later. Two children were born to them. In 1882 she married Helmuth Brandt, of Garnavillo, a widower with four children, Glendor, Ottilie, Helmuth and Hulda. This union was blessed with six children. Walda, Marvin, Raymond and Ellis, and Willis and Roscoe, who died in infancy. Since the fall of 1908 the family have been residents of Beloit, Wis.

Mrs. Brandt had been in poor health for several years and about two months before her death, she had been staying with her son, Dr. G. A. Brandt, of Farmersburg, where she received the best of care. She passed away on Tuesday morning at 1:30, having reached the age of 57 years, 8 months and 22 days.

She is survived by her sorrowing husband and children; Jessie Lathrop, of Beloit, Wis.; Carrie Krueger, of Garnavillo; Glendore, of Farmersburg; Ottilie Schmidt, of Postville; Helmuth, of Silverton, Oregon; Hulda Roebken, of Garnavillo; Walda and Ellis, of Beloit, Wis.; Marvin, a theological student at New Haven, Conn., and Raymond, who is attending the State University at Iowa City., besides the brothers and sisters, namely: Mrs. Henry Fritz, of Garnavillo; Mrs. Lafe Boesche, of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Wm. Brumm and Mrs. Chas. Adams, of Muncie, Ind., and August Maurer, of Beloit, Wis.

Funeral services, which were held at St. Paul's church on Friday, were largely attended by friends of the deceased. Rev. Braun conducted the services.
