Hosea Milton Case was born at West Hampton, Mass., March 8th, 1828 and died at his home near Strawberry Point, Sept. 10th, 1912, aged 84 years, 6 months and 2 days. With his parents he emigrated to Ohio some time in the early 40's, later going on into the state of Michigan. Arriving at the years of manhood, he went to Belvidere, Ill., where he was married to Miss Maria Robinson, Nov. 29th, 1857. Three children were born to them. Hulda L., now deceased, Charles Ernest, who died in 1862, and Ella M. Case Halsted. Mr. Case removed with his family from Illinois to Iowa about the close of the Civil War and settled a part of the land which made the Case homestead, and upon which he lived with his family until his death. His wife and one daughter, Mrs. George Halsted, survive him. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. M. vanSwearingen at his home near this city.
