Elkader Register, Thur., 05 Sept. 1912.
On last Friday evening Mrs. J. K. Molumby peacefully passed away, at the close of a long illness, aged nearly 48 years.
Mary C. Lyons was born in McGregor September 26, 1864, where she grew to womanhood and where she attended the parochial and public schools, after which she was a successful teacher for several terms in the schools of Clayton and Fayette counties.
On June 04th, 1890, she was united in marriage to J. K. Molumby and to them were born five children: Loy, Florence, Marie, Helen and Charlotte, all of whom are living except Marie, who died when a year and a half old.
Besides her husband and four children, deceased is survived by her mother, Mrs. John Lyons, three sisters, Elizabeth, Stella, and Mrs. Julia Comfort, of Mason City, two brothers, John, of St. Louis, and Thos., of Kansas City, and many friends who mourn her untimely decease and will sadly miss her cheerful and kindly presence, for she was a woman of many Christian virtues - patient, thoughtful, gentle and benevolent, a peace-maker, and "Blessed are the peacemakers."
Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's church Tuesday, conducted by Father Peikert, of Dubuque, and were attended by many who came from far and near to pay their tribute of respect and love to their departed friend, and tender their most profound sympathy to the grief stricken husband, children and other kindred.
Those who attended the services included: D. G. Molumby, Romona, S.D.; F. H. Molumby, and daughter, Waukon; Dr. Leon Molumby, Hawkeye.
