Mary Louise Olmsted was born in Monona April 28th, 1851, and died July 18th, 1912, aged 61 years, 2 months and 15 days. She received a common school education, attending the Monona schools. She united with the Congregational church in 1870. On the 28th of November, 1882, she was united in marriage to William Bywater, a happy union covering a period of almost thirty years. The bereaved husband and a brother, Alvin Soule Olmsted, besides many relatives and a large circle of personal friends, mourn the passing of Mrs. Bywater. The funeral was held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., with brief services at the home, and at 2:00 o'clock at the Congregational church, Rev. J. B. Bird officiating. The funeral was under the direction of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Nellie Egbert, Worthy Matron, conducting the ritual service at the grave. The floral offerings were numerous and very handsome. The following were the pall bearers: David Hall, Theo. Sherman, Alex Killen, John Killen, Wm. C. McNeil and H. A. Hupfer.
