Friedrick Johann Ihde was born in Rastow, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, on April 25, 1825. In 1852 he was united in marriage to Sophia Kluss. Nine children were born to this union, six of whom preceded the father in death. In 1856 the family came to America and in 1864 they took up their abode on the farm now occupied by their son John, in Garnavillo township. They remained on the farm until 1884, when the family became residents of Garnavillo. Four years ago his aged companion was called away in death and since that time Mr. Ihde's health has been failing. Death relieved him of his sufferings on Monday, July 09th, 1912. He is mourned by two sons and one daughter, Fredirich, of Pleasant Dale, Nebr., John and Caroline Crawford, of this township, twenty-four grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. The funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at St. Paul's church, Rev. Braun officiating.
