Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Apr. 1912. Cox Creek column.
A pall of sadness was cast over this vicinity last Saturday morning by the news of the death of Elmer Easton. He had hired out to Mr. Wilson, near Edgewood, for the present year, and was taken sick about three weeks ago at that place, of pneumonia. He had become better, being pronounced out of danger, and the news of his death came as a shock to all. He was the oldest son of Charles and Gusta Easton, being about 21 years old. His funeral was held at Strawberry Point, six of his former schoolmates, Ernie, Milton and Francis Kellogg, Harry Kingsland, Harold Cramer and Claude Miles, being his pall bearers. He leaves, besides his parents, two brothers and seven sisters to mourn his loss, besides numerous relatives and a host of friends.
