Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Mar. 1912.
Mrs. Louise Voss, nee Pinno, was born June 10th, 1835, at Gulse, Mecklenburg, Schwerin. In 1867 she was united in marriage to John Voss. The same year the couple emigrated to this country, to find a new home in Cox Creek township, Clayton Co., Iowa. Three daughters came to bless this happy union, viz: Mrs. Ida Brinkhaus and Mrs. Tille Bente, of Mederville, and Mrs. Louise Olinger, of Cox Creek township.
Some time ago Mrs. Voss had the misfortune to injure her foot, but she was getting along nicely, when she contracted a bad cold which developed into a touch of pneumonia. She received the best of care from her devoted husband and children and for a time it seemed as if the dear companion and mother would get well again. But it should not be. On Wednesday, March 20th, at 8 o'clock in the evening, she breathed her last, which relieved her of all earthly suffering, her age being 76 years, 9 months and 10 days. Funeral services, which were largely attended, took place Saturday afternoon at the home in Mederville, Rev. Franke, of Elkader, officiating. Several appropriate selections were rendered by a quartette of the church choir. The following friends of the family acted as pall-bearers: Chas. Gurkow, Chas. Lange, Christ. Wacker, Albert Meder, Chas. Meder and Herman Dittmer. Her earthly remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Mederville cemetery. Besides the grief-stricken husband, and children, already mentioned, the departed leaves to mourn her death four grandchildren, viz: Mrs. Louise McTaggert, John Olinger, Mrs. Louise Hackert and Miss Ella Bente, and one great-grandchild and a number of relatives and friends.
