Mrs. Patrick Connell died Monday afternoon, March 18th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. Fitzpatrick, in this city, aged about 92 years.

Sarah Tehan was born in Queen's County, Ireland, in the year 1820, and became an orphan at an early age. About 1832 she came, with her aunt, to the United States, locating near St. Paul, Minn. In 1846 she was united in marriage to Patrick Connell, in St. Paul and soon after came to Clayton county and located on a farmstead in Read township, where they resided for half a century, but for about fifteen years, since the decease of her husband, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. M. Fitzpatrick and family, in Elkader.

She was the mother of four sons and two daughters and is survived by three of her children, James, on the old homestead in Read township, and Mrs. Jas. Foran and Mrs. M. Fitzpatrick, of this city. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many friends who mourn her departure, yet who are comforted by the thought that she passed away, entered the sleep of death with little or no pain. Funeral services were held Wednesday in St. Joseph's church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. F. Reilly. Interment in the Catholic cemetery at Garnavillo, beside the remains of her husband.

The pallbearers were her six grandsons as follows: Dr. M. J. Fitzpatrick, E. C. Fitzpatrick, James Fitzpatrick, J. J. Foran, Patrick Foran and E. T. Foran.
