Mrs. Martha Dorothea Thompson, nee Stoecker, was born on Dec. 25th, 1843, in Schlesswig, Holstein, Germany, and passed to her reward on Monday morning, Jan. 29th, after an illness of but a few hours. The deceased was united in marriage to Peter Thompson, in 1865. Two children were born to them, one dying in infancy. In 1870 the family came to America, settling on a farm near Garnavillo, upon which they remained until their removal to town. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her aged husband, one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Kuehner, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Peter Kraft, of Saratoga, Iowa; and two sisters and one brother in Germany.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Braun, were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul's church.
