Alonzo E. Hoag was born at East Hamburg, New York, on May 11, 1824, and died Jan. 24, 1912 at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 13 days. He was the first born of seven children - six boys and one daughter. Father, mother, sister and three brothers passed before him to the better world. On May 02, 1847 he was united in marriage with Emmeline Wheeler, and to this union three sons were born. Since the death of his wife, Jan. 28th, 1901, Mr. Hoag has made his home with his son, E. A. Hoag, who, together with his brother, Marion A. Hoag, of Cedar Rapids, survive to mourn their father's death.
