Wm. McLane, of Volga township, was in the city on Monday, and while at this office informed us of the death of his father, Jas. A. McLane, an old veteran of the civil war. The funeral was held yesterday in Lodomillo township, Rev. Heddon, of this city, officiating.

James McLane, Sr., an old soldier over 65 years of age, died at his home last Sunday morning. Deceased was a resident of Volga township for a number of years and was highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons and one daughter, Wm., of Garber; James, Jr., of Elkport, and a daughter who lives at Sioux City. The funeral was held Wednesday. We sympathize with the bereaved ones.
