Uriell, James 1840 - 1892

Died, at his home in Read township, on Saturday, October 01st, James Uriell, at the age of 52 years, 9 days. Thus another of the pioneers of Clayton County has gone to join the silent throng beyond the grave. Gone to the realms of bliss, where the weary shall find rest, he has gained the reward for which he so hopefully looked. Mr. Uriell was born in Clayton Co., Sept. 21, 1840. From his youth he was one of those, who so earnestly labored for the development of our county. Many offices of trust were his, and they were all administered with fidelity and honor to himself. Kind, genial and wholesouled, he was a true friend, and ever ready to extend the hand of fellowship. In a word he was one of the noblest works of God "an honest man." His funeral occurred on Monday and was attended by the largest throng of people we have seen for many years. The procession was over a mile long. His remains were buried in the Catholic cemetery. May he rest in Peace.
