Elkader Register, Thur., 30 June 1892. Volga column.
Little Frances, only child of Mr. and Mrs. George Bachtell, of this place, died last Thursday, June 23d, aged 15 months. The day before the little one was about the house and fell into a tub of hot water and was so badly scalded about the body that it died of the effects, though the burns were not considered serious at first. Everything was done for the little sufferer that could be done, but its life was taken to the bright home above, leaving the hearts and home of its parents desolate. A large company of sympathizing friends were present at the funeral which took place from the residence Friday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. H. Williams, and the little white casket was borne to the cemetery and buried in a grave lined with flowers. The sorrowing young parents have the sincere sympathy of all in their sad affliction.
