Elkader Register, Thur., 24 Mar. 1892.

Died, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Lang, in Cox Creek township, Saturday, March 19th, 1892, Johann Daniel Zahrendt, at the age of nearly 92 years. Deceased was born July 1st, 1801, in county Based_, Mecklenberg, Schwerin, where he was married to Wilhelmina Klemann. They came to America in 1853, and soon after settled in Clayton county. His wife dying (in) 1874, he soon gave up farming and lived with his daughters. Three children survive, Mrs. Chas. Mentzel, Mrs. Henry Lang, and Louis Zahrendt, all residents of Cox Creek twp. The funeral took place on Monday last at Mederville, in the presence of a large concourse of friends of the family, Rev. F. W. Seifert officiating.
