Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Feb. 1892.

Clayton County is called upon to resign one of her pioneers by the death, Saturday morning, Feb. 06th, of Edwin Sherman, at his residence at National, in his 77th year. The deceased was born at Walpole, N.H., June 28, 1813. In 1844 he was married to L. J. Angier, who survives him. In 1847, he came to Clayton county, and settled on a farm which he owned until a few years ago, when he sold out and retired from active labor, with a competence. The funeral took place Monday last at National.
