Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Aug. 1889.

Drowned- At McGregor on Sunday last occurred the drowning of Charles McKinnon, of Oswego, New York. Deceased had been visiting with his uncle, Hugh McKinnon, of Mendon township, for several weeks past, and on Sunday went boating on the Mississippi. A packet passed him, and he undertook to follow in the swell left by the steamer, but the waves were running too high for his small boat and upset it, causing his death. He was about 36 years of age, but leaves no family, his wife having died some six months ago.

_____________

He has a gravestone in Evergreen cemetery, Otego, Otsego Co., New York
