Elkader Register, Thur., 02 May 1889.

DIED- April 27th, 1889, John S. Lewis, of Jefferson township, aged 72 years. Mr. Lewis was one of the oldest settlers of Clayton county. He came to this county in an early day and was well and favorably known in this part of the county. The funeral took place Wednesday and was largely attended, Rev. _icker officiating.
