Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Apr. 1889. Guttenberg column.

We hear this morning that a five year old boy of Henry Hunt, living near Osterdock, was burned to death last week. His clothes caught fire from a pile of burning brush.

Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Apr. 1889. Elkport column.

A terrible accident happened near Osterdock last Thursday by which a child seven years old lost its life. It seems that Henry Hunt, who lives near Osterdock, was out in the field burning stumps when two of his children came out to make him a visit, but instead of going to their father went to where a stump was burning, to play. They had not been there long when Mrs. Hunt heard one of the children cry and on looking out was horrified to see that the clothing of one of the children was on fire, and before she could help the little one, the child was so badly burned that it died. Mrs. Hunt is the daughter of Henry Patrick, of this township, and has many friends who mourn with the bereaved family in their sad affliction.
