Elkader Register, Thur., 10 Jan. 1889. Volga column.

Rev. Bixby, of Edgewood, was in attendance and preached the funeral sermon of Mrs. F. G. Cummings, on Sunday. Mrs. C. was an early settler in these parts and had a large circle of friends here and elsewhere who will learn of her death with deepest regret. Deceased was seventy-four years of age; was the mother of Mrs. Francis Davis who formerly resided at Elkader. The funeral was largely attended.

John Cummings and Mrs. N. Sawyer were summoned from Dakota, to the bedside of their mother, and arrived here Thursday morning.
