Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Sept. 1888.

G. H. Jacobs, who has been sick a number of weeks, died yesterday afternoon. The funeral takes place tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. Mr. Jacobs has been prominent in local matters in Guttenberg, and for several years has held the office of Justice of the Peace, besides filling other important positions. He was born in Mecklenberg, Germany in 1838. He came to this country, and to Clayton County, with his father's family, in 1854. His father settled in Volga township where he died in 1870. Mr. Jacobs studied law, and in a local way practiced as opportunities offered. He was first elected a justice of the peace when but 21 years old. A notary public for 15 years. - McGregor Times.
