Elkader Register, Thur., 06 Sept. 1888.

DIED - On Friday last, of heart disease, Robert Matthews, one of the early settlers of Wagner township. Deceased was 7_ years of age; a native of Ireland. He came to the United States in 1845, and after a residence of seven years in Ohio, came to Clayton County. He leaves an aged wife, two sons, and four daughters, and a large circle of friends to mourn his death.
