Elkader Register, Thur., 26 July 1888.

Lafayette Stranahan, of Brush Creek, died, Sunday, July 22, aged (No number given.) years, and was buried Monday in the Volga cemetery. He was a pioneer of Fayette County, and formerly lived near Steamboat Mound on the road from Volga to Wadena. He leaves an aged wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ed. Durling, and two brothers to mourn his loss. Quite a number of his neighbors from Brush Creek accompanied the remains to their last resting place.
